Weddings and Blessings

A Church Wedding

Are you thinking of getting married? If so, then congratulations on your engagement! We are absolutely thrilled that you have decided to consider being married in our church. We aim to make your day as memorable as possible, filled with joy and richness. There is nothing compares to a church wedding! We will aim to pull out all of the stops for you!

Marriage is a significant step in a relationship and your wedding day should be one of the most important and memorable of your life. It is the most joyous of occasions and deserves the best you can give it. It’s not about the flowers, the dress, the reception venue or any of the things that might use up all of your hard earned savings, as lovely as these things may be as add-ons. The most important thing is that your blossoming relationship is marked by a moment of unifying sanctity and dignity. In a church wedding the legal and the spiritual come together to create a bond of unshakable dimensions, so long as it continues to be nurtured.

When you get married in a Church it is so much more than any alternative can offer. A church wedding draws upon ancient customs, ritual, ceremony and tradition and offers a spiritual sanctity that is quite unparalleled. When you get married in church, you step into the long-running traditions and heritage of your ancestors traced in a long line through millennia. No wonder it will be so special!

So don’t hesitate to get in touch with the Parish Office to make an informal enquiry. We will happily answer any questions you may have.

Getting married in the Parish Church

Our church has many weddings every year. We are fortunate enough to be able to combine the most stunning holy and ancient venue with a deep and engaging ceremony and spiritual experience (and even a little light hearted humour along the way).

We do all we can to make the occasion as enjoyable and meaningful as possible. We warmly welcome anyone who wishes to get married at church and we will work with you to ensure that your ceremony is a happy occasion and a day to be treasured.

We also offer the opportunity to have your marriage blessed in a special service of blessing. This is especially popular for those who were married in a civil ceremony in a secular setting and wish to have it solemnised in Church to give it that sense of spiritual gravitas, those who wish to have their marriage blessed and renew their wedding vows in celebration after many years of marriage, or following a particularly difficult period in their relationship which they have now thankfully overcome and wish to acknowledge before God. You can find out more below.

Wedding Blessings (Dedication and Affirmation after a Civil Marriage)

Sometimes couples get married elsewhere, but wish to have their relationship recognised by God in a Parish Church and for it to be enfolded by his grace, through prayer and affirmation. This is called ‘Dedication and Affirmation after a Civil Marriage’ or sometimes commonly referred to as a ‘Wedding Blessing’.

We warmly welcome all enquires regarding such ceremonies. Whatever your situation, it would be our privilege to explore the possibility of conducting a dedication and affirmation ceremony with you and your partner. We believe that God wishes to enfold every committed relationship in his loving care and protection. Such a ceremony in Church enables your union to be enfolded by God’s grace, which is important for the long-term health and commitment of every relationship.
